Program description

Visible Wellbeing is a whole-school program that trains all staff across the school in a wellbeing framework and language, and practices that can be embedded in the classroom.

The program is underpinned by an evidence-based framework called SEARCH. This framework covers 6 pathways to wellbeing:

  • Strengths
  • Emotional Management
  • Attention and Awareness
  • Relationships
  • Coping
  • Habits and Goals.

The All-School Visible Wellbeing Program trains the entire school staff (leaders, teachers, staff) together as a learning community to build a shared and consistent approach to wellbeing. This aims to foster a safe and positive learning environment. The program includes:

  • introduction to the SEARCH framework and its application in schools
  • training modules for each SEARCH pathway to wellbeing
  • training module detailing school-based examples and case studies
  • webinars each semester to connect all teachers across department schools who are enrolled.

Implementation considerations

  • Target population: Teachers, wellbeing teams, support staff, leaders and all other staff within the school. The program learnings can be used in classrooms with students of all ages.
  • Program adaptability: The program is suitable for diverse cohorts including:
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
    • asylum seeker and refugee students
    • culturally and linguistically diverse students
    • LGBTIQA+ students
    • neurodivergent students.
  • Staffing: The on-demand modules can be undertaken according to a flexible schedule. Backfill is only required if the school requires the teachers to engage in the on-demand modules during class time.
  • Training requirements: The time requirements are 6 hours for the live all staff training modules. 13 hours for the on-demand training modules, 3 one-hour coaching sessions for the Visible Wellbeing lead. The duration of the program is typically 18 months.
  • Factors to consider: There is no minimum number of participants required. Internet connection and devices are required.
  • Australian context: The program has been developed and applied in Australia.

Detailed cost

The cost of the All-School Visible Wellbeing Program is:

  • $49,500 (including GST) for individual school delivery over 18 months, including 25 hours of staff training and additional coaching of 6 hours for the Wellbeing Leader
  • $16,500 (including GST) per school for online cluster delivery over 18 months, including 19 hours of staff training delivered alongside a minimum of 2 other Victorian government schools.

A number of add-ons are also available to purchase.
