Program description

ATLAS helps school communities achieve positive educational outcomes for students through understanding their unique needs within their learning environment.

ATLAS builds the capacity of educators through professional learning and direct engagement with leadership, staff, students and their caregivers. Through a lens of trauma informed, evidence-based practice in schools, ATLAS focuses on building schools’ capacity for safe, appropriate connections that promote learning and wellbeing.

Schools can also engage in communities of practice with other local schools, to build connections between schools and strengthen trauma informed practice.

Implementation considerations

  • Target population: School staff, students and their caregivers.
  • Program adaptability: The program is suitable for diverse cohorts including:
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
    • asylum seeker and refugee students
    • culturally and linguistically diverse students
    • LGBTIQA+ students.
  • Staffing: While the program can be delivered flexibly, backfill will be required to support teacher time for professional learning, consultation and reflective practice.
  • Professional learning requirements: There are no training requirements from schools prior to implementation of the program.
  • Factors to consider: While the program is intended to be delivered face-to-face, professional learning or other support elements can be provided online if requested, in which case schools will require access to necessary technology. A minimum of 2 staff are required to establish a School Implementation Team, with a minimum of 10 staff participating in Trauma Informed Training. Ongoing support is an integral part of the model, with the program designed to support the embedding of trauma approaches and practice across time. There is flexibility with regards to the utilisation and timing of this service. Costs beyond the minimum package are $385 per hour including GST.

Detailed cost

The cost for the minimum ATLAS Program is $19,250 (including GST), plus travel costs. This includes 50 hours of service delivered by an ATLAS consultant to up to 20 staff.

The cost for the premium ATLAS package is $55,000 (including GST), plus travel costs. The premium package offers co-location of an ATLAS consultant based onsite at the school for a day a week for the entirety of the school year.
